A web and mobile platform connecting athletes, coaches, and recruiters, with profiles, messaging, and opportunity matching.

Overview
The AIR App brings social networking together with athletic recruiting. It connects athletes with coaches, recruiters, and the opportunities they're after. That meant a platform that could handle messy, real-world use: lots of user interaction, real-time messaging, detailed profiles, and matching, all working the same on web and mobile.
Boldally Studio built the whole thing across web and mobile, so athletes can get seen by programs and coaches and recruiters have real tools to find and weigh up talent.
Challenge
The hard part was the shape of the product, not any single feature.
It had to serve three different users at once — athletes, coaches, and recruiters — each with their own dashboard, permissions, and view of the data. Athletes needed rich profiles: stats, videos, highlights, and verified achievements. Coaches and recruiters needed real tools to search that talent, shortlist it, and reach out, with a matching engine pairing athletes to opportunities on sport, position, location, and academics.
All of it had to work the same on the web and in native iOS and Android apps, in real time. Messaging, a social feed, follows, and notifications all had to stay in sync. And it had to stay fast as the profiles, videos, and posts piled up.
Solution
We built the platform end to end, with web and mobile sharing one backend.
Backend (Laravel). A REST API with token auth and role-based access keeps Athletes, Coaches, and Recruiters in their own lanes, each seeing only what they should. Heavy jobs like video encoding and notifications run in the background so the app stays responsive. A custom matching engine pairs athletes with opportunities on sport, position, location, academics, and a coach's recruiting criteria, with ElasticSearch behind search and filtering. Media runs through AWS S3 with transcoding and CDN delivery, and WebSockets plus Firebase Cloud Messaging drive real-time messages, feed updates, and push notifications.
Web (Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS). A server-rendered app for fast loads and SEO, with a dashboard tailored to each role: athletes manage profiles and track applications, coaches search and shortlist talent, recruiters save searches and reach out. A social feed, posting, and a follow system sit alongside opportunity browsing with one-click applications and status tracking.
Mobile (Swift on iOS, Kotlin on Android). Native apps that follow each platform's conventions, with camera uploads, push notifications, location-based opportunity discovery, biometric login, and offline caching so the app still works on a patchy connection.
Design system. A shared component library and Tailwind keep the look and behavior consistent across web and mobile, with accessible, WCAG-minded components and dark mode.
Results
We launched the web and mobile apps together.
Athletes built out full profiles and started getting in front of college programs. Coaches and recruiters used the search and matching to find talent they wouldn't have spotted otherwise, and the feed and messaging kept people coming back day to day.
Underneath, the platform held up. Pages loaded fast on the web, real-time messaging and notifications stayed responsive under load, and the architecture was built to keep scaling as the user base grew. The codebase stayed clean and tested, with CI/CD and monitoring in place so updates shipped quickly and problems showed up early instead of in front of users.
Conclusion
The AIR App changed how athletic recruiting works for the people on it. Built with Laravel, Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, Swift, and Kotlin, it connects athletes with opportunities and gives coaches and recruiters real tools to find and assess talent, on whatever device they're using.
What made it work was the engineering underneath: a full-stack build that takes user experience, performance, and load seriously. The platform keeps growing, helping athletes get noticed and coaches find their next signing.
